Neither Here Nor There

Inspired by the similarities and differences between black South African and Swedish experiences, Neither Here Nor There presents a selection of artistic practices that reflect these qualities. Neither Here nor There thinks with and through Simon Njami’s words about black popular culture being a place of commitment that among other things, crosses cultural borders and negotiates between dominant and subordinate positions.
The artistic practices presented here explore and affirm black artistic practice, not unlike black life, as inventive and as sites of experimentation. Being a coming together and combination of process, content, and form, the artistic practices presented here reflect and critique the world as we know it while leaving clues, providing portholes for a world otherwise.
